The latest DVSA data has revealed that 50,000 (over half!) MOT Testers have yet to pass this years’ Annual Assessment. With the deadline less than nine weeks away… it feels like the 1993 film “Groundhog Day” all over again!
Chris Price, head of MOT policy at the DVSA has confirmed that there will be NO extension to the deadline this year. If an MOT tester fails to pass the Annual Assessment by midnight on Thursday 31st March, they will be immediately suspended from testing. This means they will be unable to conduct any MOT work from the 1st April onwards until they have completed next years’ training and assessment, then scheduled and completed a “demonstration test” with a DVSA representative at the tester’s place of work. In short, failing to pass the Annual Assessment in time could have serious consequences for garage income, testers’ careers, and road safety.
We know that MOT testing sites have been working full throttle towards the end of 2021 and into 2022. Many testers are also understandably anxious about taking an academic exam, with a high pass rate of 80% and no option to pause to check the manuals, as they are able to do in a MOT test. However, history shows us that leaving this until the last minute every year only adds to this pressure. So why are so many testers doing the same thing over and over, year after year?!
In the past 6 years, we have seen an increase in the number of MOT Juice users who are opting to take their exam earlier. This is due in part to the way our online training and exam is delivered; the full years’ training and exam is available from April each year. We also encourage our testers to take their exam as soon as they are ready, and provide resources including a Mock Exam to help them prepare to pass the Annual Assessment. Our Free Mock Exam is available for all MOT Testers, not just our users.
Get yourself out of that Groundhog Day rut, and get your Annual Assessment out of the way TODAY! Start by taking a Free Mock Exam and we’ll give you 1 hour of our online Annual DVSA Training to do afterwards, then you can purchase the rest of your training and exam in a couple of clicks. All your training and exam records will be stored safely in one place, accessible from anywhere and printable.
Then in April, you’ll have a new opportunity to do things differently next year…
