Almost 700 MOT Testers have been disqualified from practice over the last two financial years, representing a massive increase of 49% from the previous two-year period (April 2018 to March 2020). These statistics illustrate a notable rise in DVSA actions over recent years that aren’t limited to action against Testers. The DVSA disqualified 687 Testers during the last two financial years (April 2020 to March 2022), according to new data obtained from the DVSA by BookMyGarage, up 49% from the previous two years. The DVSA has also issued more than 1,000 warnings to Testers during that time. Although this is new data, the observation of this trend has been going on for some time. Tester disqualifications have risen nearly 3.5 times in 2020/21 from 2015/16, with Authorised Examiner disqualification following a similar trend noting an almost three-fold increase in the same period.
