April 11, 2023
As the long cold winter eventually melts in the springtime sunshine, and the end of quarter one signals the close of the MOT training year, we reflect on the last 12 months and all we’ve achieved together as a community. We want to thank our Tribe for all their contributions. Building community is a significant part of what we do, and we couldn’t have achieved all we have without you guys.
2023 started with a bang with the sudden launch of the government consultation on the MOT’s future. We were thrilled to see so many of you respond positively to our rallying call and submit your views on the new proposals, which have the reach and potential to affect every one of us. The government received over 4,000 responses which will help them to identify the best way to evolve the MOT scheme moving forwards.
Your engagement didn’t stop there, as many of you submitted questions for Barry to answer in CPD training, which has been an excellent way for us to learn together as a community. We’ve heard that you love our video content, and listening to your views, we’ve levelled up our CPD offering by adding as much video content to the CPD training as possible. Now not only is our CPD quick and easy, but it is also more accessible and more entertaining. You’re welcome.
This training year, we’ve seen a 23% increase in exams taken in 22-23 compared to 21-22 through MOT Juice. It is the first full year we have been offering the IMI exam alongside the ABC exam, and our Tribe seem pretty pleased with this extra choice and flexibility in their training and assessment preferences.
Further to our popular Tester CPD, for those of you in a site manager (SM) role, we now offer Site Manager CPD, which covers everything your testers cover plus extra targeted content just for you. This one-of-a-kind CPD offering is unique and much needed in the MOT training market. Following this simple monthly training offering keeps you up to date with DVSA guidance, answers real-world questions submitted by other SMs, helps you easily manage some of the more challenging aspects of your role, and builds an all-important support network and community around you, helping you achieve more with less stress. We’ve received great feedback from SMs about the training:
“Good knowledge builder. Excellent questions that make you think and open research documents.”
“Very informative again. I had no clear understanding of liability before this module.”
“Before this training module, I couldn’t of answered any of these questions accurately. I found it very informative.”
This training year at MOT Juice, we have taken on four new starters, all of whom are already contributing their brilliance to the team dynamic. We expect the team to expand even further as we continue to grow over the coming months and years. This business growth helps us support you guys more effectively while continuing to broaden our range of free stuff for you.
This year we’ve added a bunch of new freebies for you and your colleagues to take advantage of. Here at MOT Juice, we are committed to making your lives easier in every way possible. This year we have added the following great features and freebies:
The Manuals Library – we have collected all of the manuals for the equipment in your VTS so that you can easily access these whenever you need them.
The Polls Page – we want your opinions on current affairs and testing matters. Use your voice to join the conversations that matter.
Enhanced integration between the Juice system and MTS – our system now double-checks the data integrity between the two systems highlighting potential risks VTSs have neglected to update data on one or either system.
A range of excellent accessibility features on the DVSA fast search MOT Testing Guide and Inspection Manuals. This new range of features allows you to mix and match reading enhancements according to your preferences making these reference documents more accessible to everyone, including those who struggle to read traditional web text. The options include dyslexia font options, customisable letter and line spacing, dark contrast options, a reading guide tool highlighting the line you are on, and plenty of other options.
We also have some exciting new developments planned for the 2023-24 training year and beyond—our new product review YouTube channel is now live to help you make better-informed procurement choices for your VTS. The first couple of product reviews are already available, so check those out and subscribe to the channel and notifications to keep updated with new content as it is released.
Our new improved Site Audit feature is now live too. Our developers have been beavering away for many months to improve the real-life application of the Site Audit in the running of your VTS. The new version is a much more palatable process for SMs, providing invaluable guidance and support and explaining the justification for each audit task. The questions are different every month and specific to the current season. Video guidance supports each section explaining what is required, why and how to achieve it most efficiently. The new version is available to everyone subscribing to the VTS tools package. If you’ve not yet discovered this tool suite, give them a try now on a 30-day free trial.
Our new risk scorecard feature is also close on the horizon. Presently in the final stages of development, this feature provides a quick glance representation of the five key VTS issues that can expose the business to an immediate risk of closure, extending the traffic light system to these issues and supporting you in achieving greens in all of these areas of risk. Look out for this exciting new development. We are also looking into ways to use technology to nurture our community-building efforts further, as bringing you guys in the Tribe together in more effective ways is a fundamental part of our company vision.
It’s great to celebrate another successful training year here at MOT Juice. We’ve had some amazing feedback and thanks from you guys and that means a lot to us here. We are also very grateful for all of your input and engagement in making this community what it is. Here’s to another successful training year to come. Cheers Tribe.
